Dear Earth Day Boston Supporter,
Let’s be clear. The attacks at the federal level on the EPA, efficiency programs, EV subsidies as well as state level reversals are attacks on climate justice. The U.S. was making significant progress on reversing the harm that for centuries created injustice in black and brown communities. From polluting highways that cut off neighborhoods to fossil fuel power plants being situated in poor communities, environmental injustice is a shameful part of our history.
Recent efforts to reverse this history were making a difference in neighborhoods and communities across this country. Black farmers were finally getting billions of dollars for years of discrimination. Pollution was coming down with the impact of increasing solar, wind, EV’s and other electrification projects because of federal subsidies. Communities that were overburdened with fossil fuel pollution were becoming greener. Literal walls were coming down in some areas because of IRA funding and infrastructure projects. Reversing these efforts is a full assault on this important work.
What can you do about it? Take action. Go to our events page to learn how you can be involved during the month of April. Sign up for an event now, including our signature event at the MIT Museum where participants will learn about how to take action in schools and communities.
