Why I’m Inspired

Dear Earth Day supporter,

As we welcome spring, and celebrate Passover, Easter and Earth Month, I am finding it easier to see the possibilities for new and necessary growth, rather than only mourn the losses of the past few months. This is not to minimize the pain that so many of us—and our planet—have been experiencing. It is excruciating to see years of collective hard work reversed at the stroke of a pen.

However, the only way out of grief is through it—and forward. Forward means building healthy and stronger communities together.

I’m inspired by the many people who are collectively working to make our community healthier, happier and more resilient to the storms that we know are coming.

I’m inspired by our school grantees who are holding Earth Day events in Boston, Arlington, Braintree, Cambridge, Lexington, Norwood, Newton, Salem, and Wayland. Almost 1,000 students, faculty and staff are coming together to learn about and care for our Earth.

I’m inspired by the hundreds of events that people have planned at local colleges and communities throughout the month of April. Massachusetts is going to see thousands of people standing up for our planet in and around Earth Day.

Happy Earth Month! Let’s get it done.
